Empowering the Future: Women Investors and Financial Confidence

By: Sunni Schneider

In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re sharing insights from our recent webcast designed to help women build long-term wealth and take control of their financial futures.

During the webcast, Julie McLaren of bringonfocus.com, Lisa Kennedy, and Sunni Schneider explored the powerful difference an early start can make. We also tackled some of the common hurdles women face when it comes to investing.

We discussed a recent survey that illustrates the compelling truth about women investors. While 90% feel they are on track with their financial goals, 85% wish they had started investing sooner.

This gap is a powerful reminder that while confidence grows, the regret of lost time is a significant emotional and financial hurdle.

The single most impactful factor in building wealth is time. The principle of compounded growth—earning returns on both your initial contributions and the gains over time—can dramatically alter your financial destiny.

Consider this example. Investing just $6,000 per year from age 25 to 67 at a 7% return would grow to nearly $1.5 million. However, waiting until age 30 to start making those deposits would reduce that potential wealth to approximately $1 million, or $500,000 less than the person that started at age 25.

Our webcast shared opinions on the importance of investing, including:

  • When to start investing to plan for your financial future?
  • What if anything made you hesitate before you started investing?
  • What advice would you give other women about building financial confidence and investing?
  • What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned since becoming an investor?

Investing is a journey, not a destination. By taking that first step, you are actively building a more secure and confident financial future.
